"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but rather, the number of times, our breath, is taken away...!"

Congratulations to Cougar Ridge!

Sam's Club of Tallahassee has honored CRC by awarding us their Community Service Grant of the year! Thank you Sam! We promise to keep working hard to serve our community and your grant will help greatly.

New Blog! http://tigerlady.blogster.com/welcome.html is the name of my new Blog site. I'm feeling my way through this so there may be glitches. What I've asked you do is pass the word, pass the word, pass the word. Where else can you answer the stupid propaganda passed around that ALL will read. Here's your chance. If you know others to add please do. I don't know all the group sites.

Our Mission:

The message we strive to teach is the PROFOUND effect man can have on his environment, specifically the Florida Panther or Eastern Cougar.  Children especially love animals, and although we do not limit our program by age, we do focus on school children.  There is no better way to teach the value of our endangered friends than letting children see them “up close and personal.”

We have found that when meeting live animals, it is difficult to pay attention to a lecture; therefore, we send a “Florida Panther Fact Sheet” to the teacher (or group leader) about a week before the presentation. Participants may then do their own desired research and come ready with questions.

It is important to realize that endangered species must have “ambassadors” for their kind to educate the public regarding the importance of respect for wildlife and wildlife habitats. We specifically concentrate on the reasons leading to the extinction of the Eastern Cougar, and the sad plight of the Florida Panther. Part of this discussion includes what the State of Florida has done and may propose soon to better the panthers’ situation. Both of our panthers were rehabilitated from near death illnesses and now could not survive in the wild; hence, they have a life of luxury to face!
